How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?

Laser hair removal removes unwanted hair for smoother skin that lasts. Our Gentlemax Pro™ laser system provides effective results on all skin tones.

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is when the living hair follicles are destroyed in order to no longer grow hair. Each individual follicle supports hair at the root. The follicle is the only living part of the hair and helps grow hair. The Gentlemax Pro™ laser system uses pulses of heat to target and damage the hair follicles in order to lessen hair growth in undesired areas. The skin the hair is treated on will not be damaged by laser hair removal because it is only targeting hair follicles and not the skin itself.

How Much Is Laser Hair Removal?

The cost of laser hair removal depends on the number of sessions that are needed as well as the area(s) being treated. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost per laser hair removal session is $389. Larger areas of hair that need to be treated may cost more than smaller areas. Multiple areas can also be treated during the same session by one of our expert professionals. Laser hair removal is an out-of-pocket hair removal treatment that insurance often does not cover.

Laser hair removal is a more permanent treatment to lessen hair growth and it is different from shaving, waxing, or plucking. The results last for a longer amount of time compared to any other hair removal treatments. Laser hair removal will help save money and time overall compared to other methods of hair removal.

Ottawa Laser Hair Removal
*Individual results may vary.

Luminesse Laser and Skin Clinic recommends scheduling several sessions to achieve the best results. You should not expect the removal of all of the undesired hair to occur in only one session. With each session, more follicles stop producing hair, leading to the less overall growth of hair in the treated areas. The amount of sessions needed will be determined by Luminesse Laser and Skin Clinic during your laser hair removal consultation

How To Prepare For Laser Hair Removal?

In order to achieve the best results after each session, you will need to:

  • Shave 24 hours before the scheduled session
  • Keep the hair that will be treated out of direct sunlight
  • Not wax or pluck because that removes the follicle entirely
  • Avoid bleaching the hair that will be treated
  • Not take blood-thinning medications

Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

The feeling of laser hair removal is reported as being similar to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area(s) before the laser hair removal session begins. The Gentlemax Pro™ will also emit cooling pulses to lessen any discomfort from the heat pulses.

What Are The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal targets unwanted hair more permanently than waxing, shaving, or plucking. Directly destroying the follicles promotes less hair growth. Other benefits of laser hair removal include:

  • Helps to avoid ingrown hairs
  • Saves time by eliminating the need for self hair removals such as waxing, shaving, or plucking
  • Long-lasting, visible results
  • Leaves no scars

What Is Recovery Like From Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Laser hair removal recovery includes no downtime. There may be some redness or swelling in treated areas but usually resolves anywhere from 1-48 hours after the treatment session. Aftercare includes applying sunscreen to the treated areas as if it were a sunburn and avoiding direct contact with harsh chemical exfoliators to the area(s) treated.

Am I A Good Candidate For Laser Hair Removal?

Almost anyone regardless of skin tone can receive laser hair removal treatment. People who have darker skin tones can also be treated safely and effectively by the Gentlemax Pro™ laser system. However, individuals with skin conditions may need to wait for treatment for both their safety as well as comfort. Laser hair removal is not recommended for use on people who have keloid scars.
