How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost?

The top layers of our skin contain dead skin cells and fine facial hair that can make the skin on the face appear less smooth. Dermaplaning removes these dead skin cells and hair for a smoother facial appearance. Many are curious and ask about how much dermaplaning costs?

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a skin resurfacing technique that eliminates dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin. This procedure smoothes out the face by removing not only dead skin cells but also acne scars and peach fuzz.

How Does Dermaplaning Work?

Our experienced aesthetician Valérie uses a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle to carefully remove dead skin cells and fine hairs the top layer of the skin. Dermaplaning is similar to shaving but with a more refined technique. With the top layer gone, the face will appear more polished. Valérie will apply both a soothing serum, followed by sunscreen to the treated skin for extra sun protection. The consistent application of sunscreen  will help prevent signs of aging due to sun damage.

How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost?

Generally speaking, dermaplaning costs on average between $75 to $250.

Cost is dependent on a few factors including clinic location, experience, and what is included in a dermaplaning treatment. The number of sessions purchased may also affect the cost of dermaplaning. During your consultation at Luminesse Laser & Skin Clinic, all of these factors will be discussed and more when seeking out the cost for this procedure.

Is Dermaplaning Safe?

Dermaplaning is a safe procedure when performed by an experienced professional, such as our aesthetician Valérie. We do not recommend performing dermaplaning at home, as the risks of cuts and infection are higher.  Always go to a professional for dermaplaning.

What is Dermaplaning Like?

Dermaplaning can feel similar to shaving your face. The process will remove vellus hair but mainly targets the dead skin cells on the outermost layer of the skin. The entire procedure should take around 30 minutes for the full face but can take a longer amount of time depending on what is being included is the treatment.

There should be no pain or discomfort during the procedure. You may feel a slight tingling sensation during the dermaplaning procedure.

How Long Does Dermaplaning Last?

Skin cells grow back within three to four weeks as new skin cells naturally replaces the old. Dermaplaning helps remove old skin cells, therefore, regular monthly maintenance is recommended to maintain results.

Benefits of Dermaplaning

  • Restoring skin’s vibrance
  • Treating flaky, dry skin
  • Evening out skin texture
  • Minimizing fine lines
  • Reduced appearance of acne scars
  • Better absorption of skincare products
  • Even application of makeup
  • No downtime required

With regular dermaplaning appointments, you can consistently maintain these benefits. At Luminesse Laser & Skin Clinic, we recommend multiple sessions to keep your desired skin results.

Is There Any Downtime?

While your skin may look a slightly flush after dermaplaning, there is no downtime. Follow all directions provided by your aesthetician regarding makeup and skincare products following the procedure. The application of sunscreen following a dermaplaning treatment is recommended to protect your skin from sun exposure.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?

If you have skin that looks dull from old skin cells and peach fuzz, you may be a good candidate for dermaplaning. Unless you have an active acne breakout or severe skin condition, most people can have dermaplaning.
