What Results Can I Expect from LED Light Therapy?

LED (light-emitting diode) therapy uses light in the visible range, so there is no UV light to cause skin damage. Celluma® is a flexible pad placed as close to the skin as possible. It can be placed on the face or other areas of the body that need treatment.

The wavelengths of light created by the LED penetrate the skin, muscles, and joints without causing any pain or discomfort. They stimulate cell metabolism, which increases healing proteins like collagen. They also promote the elimination of damaged cells and the production of new ones.

LED light therapy can be used as an acne light treatment that helps achieve clearer skin. It can also alleviate acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Celluma® uses different wavelengths of light depending on whether it is used to treat acne, anti-aging, or pain relief. A red light is typically used for anti-aging treatments and a blue light for acne. A combination of wavelengths can also be used.

Celluma Light Therapy can be combined with other skin treatments offered at Luminesse Laser.

Almost anyone can receive LED light therapy. It does not cause any damage to tissues. Individuals looking for a gentle treatment that promotes tissue healing can benefit from treatments with Celluma.

Because LED light therapy helps to treat acne, it can be used on irritated or damaged skin. If your acne has not responded to other treatments, LED light therapy is a good treatment choice.

The Celluma® pad will be placed on the body part  to be treated.  There is little to no sensation as the light works its magic on your skin. The procedure involves no pain or discomfort, and no numbing is required.

Celluma® treatments last about half an hour per area to be treated. Because the light only consists of visible wavelengths, there are no UV rays to damage the skin.

You can resume your regular activities right away. You will not need any aftercare and should not see any side effects.

You can expect to see continuous improvement in your skin over a series of treatments.  When Celluma® is used to treat pain in muscles and joints, you may experience a decrease in your pain immediately after treatment.

Typically, you will achieve the best level of improvement with one to two treatments per week for up to ten weeks.  Our specialists recommend monthly treatments to maintain optimum results.

When Celluma® is used to treat signs of aging, you will notice improvements in your skin with a decrease in fine lines, a brighter complexion, and less hyperpigmentation. When Celluma® is used to treat  acne, expect to see a decrease in breakouts and an improvement in the look of acne scars.

As a treatment for acne, ongoing light therapy treatments may be necessary until the condition is under control.
