Platelet Rich Plasma: PRP For hair loss

“Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections are a safe and effective method for treating patients with hair loss. The patient’s blood is drawn and then processed to extract the platelet rich plasma which is then injected with a fine needle into the scalp. The growth factors in the blood stimulate new hair growth.

Three monthly treatments are recommended with a possible fourth booster session 3 months after the initial set.

The side effects after PRP injections include pinpoint bleeding, swelling and pain at the site of injection. Taking an anti-inflammatory can decrease the discomfort associated with the injections. There is no recovery time needed.

Eclipse PRP is a proprietary system that is based on blood separation according to density using a unique separation gel. The system allows for the preparation of pure Platelet-Rich Plasma with optimal platelet concentrations and cellular content.

The Eclipse platform is available with an 11 mL collection tube or 22 mL high concentration collection tube.

  • Eclipse PRP can be used for for facial rejuvenation as an injectable or in combination with the MicroPen® Elite
  • When it is concentrated with larger volumes it can be used for stimulating hair growth in men and women suffering from pattern baldness since PRP contains growth factors that stimulate the development of new hair follicles and improve the health of existing ones. This therapy is perfect for patients who are not candidates for a surgery or those wanting a more aggressive nonsurgical approach to treatment
  • PRP has been used successfully in other medical and surgical disciplines for many years

Treatment process

Platelet-Rich Plasma is prepared by taking a small sample of the patient’s own blood, then separating platelets from Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP), RBC and GRs via centrifugation. Next, the PRP is collected and may be applied to the treated site.

How long does the process take?

The blood draw takes just a couple of minutes, followed immediately by a 10-minute centrifugation. The time involved in the application varies based on which procedure is being performed.

How many PRP sessions are required?

Medical professional should create a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

Can a PRP procedure be painful?

Eclipse PRP® is close to a physiologic pH, which means the product is less likely to cause a stinging or burning sensation. There may be some temporary discomfort or possible redness and inflammation at the application site, but quickly resolves.
