How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?

We spend 10 to 15 minutes out of our daily routines shaving, plucking, and removing unwanted hairs from our bodies. We are also constantly spending money on wax treatments, shaving cream, razors, and other hair removal products. Even with the most effective treatments, the results only last from a couple of hours to a few months. Laser hair removal with the Gentlemax Pro™ targets and removes hairs on any skin tone with lasting results.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Unlike most other laser treatments, the Gentlemax Pro™ works on all skin types using two wavelengths: Alexandrite and Nd: YAG. The two lasers target the pigment in the hair follicles, leaving the skin unaffected. Laser hair removal stops hair growth at the root by targeting the follicles for longer-lasting results.

How does the Gentlemax Pro™ Laser Hair Removal Work?

Hair grows in four stages: anagen (growing), catagen (transition), telogen (resting), and exogen (shedding). Laser hair removal targets hairs in the anagen phase. Your body, however, has hair at every stage at any given point. As a result, multiple treatments are required for maximum results.

The Gentlemax Pro™ has adjustable power settings for specific requirements. The laser light energy targets the pigment in the hair follicles, causing them to heat, stopping hair growth, and deactivating the follicle.

How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?

Laser hair removals can last years, depending on your hair’s growth patterns. After the final treatment, some reported not seeing hair regrowth for ten years, while others required annual touch-ups. Areas like the chin, neck, and face tend to regrow faster.

Initial regrowth is most likely due to untreated hair not in the anagen stage during the laser hair removal treatment. After the initial series of treatments, any hair regrowth is likely to be sparse, fine and barely visible.

What is Laser Hair Removal Like?

One of our experts at Luminesse passes a wand over the skin, emitting a burst of laser light energy into the hair follicles. Most report the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping on the skin. The laser also emits a burst of cooling before the laser pulse to reduce the feeling of heat. If needed, numbing cream can be applied for additional comfort.

Appointments for the chest or legs may take 15 to 30 minutes. You may also choose to treat multiple areas of the body in one session. Common treatment areas are:

  • Legs
  • Arms
  • Chest
  • Back

However, any area of the body can be treated to remove unwanted hair.

Is There Any Downtime With Laser Hair Removal?

There is no downtime with laser hair removal. Redness and mild swelling may occur up to 48 hours after, but most see these fade within a day. Sunscreen should be worn at all times to protect your skin. Harsh cleansers and scrubs should be avoided for a few days following your treatment.

Laser Hair Removal Results

After each treatment, less hair returns. Any hair regrowth is likely to be sparse and fine. You will be able to enjoy smooth, hairless skin for years with a few touch-up treatments. In the long run, you will save money and time typically spent on shaving supplies and waxing services with the lasting results from Laser Hair Removal.

Does Laser Hair Removal Work on Darker Skin?

Most lasers cannot work on darker skins due to the targeting of pigment. At Luminesse, the Gentlemax Pro™ works on all skin types, including darker skin tones. With the Nd: YAG, the Gentlemax Pro™ technology produces different wavelengths of energy, safely targeting the hair follicles even on darker skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Almost anyone can enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal. If you are interested in removing shaving and waxing from your daily routine, you may be a good candidate for laser hair removal. If you suffer from any skin conditions, it is best to wait for the skin to heal before receiving laser hair removal.
